INTOSKIN TATTOO
We're in Kimberley next door to the Dandelion cafe (great place to get something to eat/drink before getting work done).
Currently we are only taking cash payments at the studio.
You can use card when paying for your deposit through our online page. Some independant artists at the studio can take card payments but we recommend you confirm with them directly before you attend your appointment.
We sure do but its the luck of the draw who's available and whether we have availability. It's definitly worth trying and we'll try our best to accomodate!
There used to be but they are now New Moon Tattoo Studio! Though some of the artists are the same as before they are a seperate business so please don't try to use our vouchers there. If you are looking for the Eastwood shop you can click here to be sent their way;
Unfortunately yes but they can't be that bad or people wouldn't get them!
Tattoos have been described as anything from cat scratches, akin to sun-burn to mildly pleasurable but I suspect this is less common and depends entirely on the design and body location.
Piercings are generally more painful but are over pretty quickly, the anticipation is usually worse than the needle.
We don't provide numbing cream but we usually don't have an issue with you using it. If it means you can sit still and comfortable for the duration of the tattoo or piercing then that is a big help to us.
Try and use one that is specifically intended for tattooing or piercing, do your research and test it on your skin before the day of the treatment. We cannot advise what is going to be effective and safe for you.
Probably not! This is not an exhaustive list but getting tattooed/pierced can be quite physically and mentally draining as it can set off your adrenaline/shock response. We do not advise drinking alcohol or intensive exercise in the 8 hours following treatment but you should avoid the following for the duration of healing which can be up to 12 weeks;
Swimming/Saunas,
Sunbathing or Tanning (including applying fake tan),
Avoid makeup contaminating the treated area (this mainly applies to facial piercings),
Avoid clothing that will rub or contaminate the treated area,
Avoid contamination from animals inlcuding house pets.
18! This is a legal requirement, no wiggle room at all! Please don't try it. If you look youthful or just want to avoid disappointment its always a good idea to bring some sort of photo ID, we accept driving licenses and passports but if you have neither we might accept some other combination of ID. Just get in touch if you're unsure.
I've tried to cover this in our Pricing section but I'll go into more detail here. The main issue is we don't know how long a tattoo is going to take so we have to make an estimate. For small or simple tattoos we can generally estimate pretty accurately and give you a set price for a completed piece.
In these instances we usually will offer a couple of size variations on the day with their own prices and you can pick the one thats right for you.
If the design covers a large area of the body, is heavily coloured or shaded, or even if its in a particularly awkward location on the body it can soon add in a lot of unknown factors that effect the duration of a tattoo.
In these instances we will usually charge by the hour with an initial longer session of 2 or more hours. After this initial session the artist will usually have a much better idea of how much time is needed to complete the tattoo.
An advantage of paying by the hour means you can pay for the work as and when its convenient to you
Of course! Normally a client will bring us an idea or design they've seen and we will try and create a new image based on that. When you pay your deposit this covers the time your artist will spend preparing the image. (This is the main reason your deposit is forfeit if you don't turn up!)
We recommend Bepanthen- nappy cream. They do make a tattoo specific one if you can find it in a chemist or online but the regular kind works very well and is available in most supermarkets.
It creates a barrier to help avoid contaminating the broken skin, is pretty sensitive for most skin types, moisturising and is fortified with vitamin B5 to promote healing.
During healing tattoos can scab, get itchy, feel warm like sunburn. This is all normal. Usually applying a little of your chosen after-care cream is sufficient to eliviate symptoms. If you notice swelling, discolouration or the skin getting hot then this is more likely to be signs of an infection and might need a second opinion. If you're not sure by all means get in touch!
For the majority of our piercings you need to be 16 to come in on your own, its a good idea to bring suitable ID with you to avoid disappointment. If you are under 16 we require a responsible adult to accompany you and sign our disclaimer and consent form on your behalf.
Because your body can change quite a bit before its finished growing we don't recommend certain piercings and won't perform them unless you're above the following ages;
Ear-lobes, 7+
Belly-button piercing, 13+
Ear-cartilage 14+
Facial, 16+
Nipples, 18+
We also reserve the right to refuse to perform a piercing if we don't believe it will successfully heal, some anatomies just don't accomodate certain piercings but we will check this with you at the time before any needles come out!
What about tongue piercings?
Tongues are gross, they're all wet and soggy. All jokes aside, we don't feel they're worth the potential risks associated with performing the piercing so its not something we offer at this time.
